On Saturday, after the boy's basketball game, we went to support a Non-Profit Organization of Las Vegas called "Positively Kids." This foundation helps children with disabilities. They host an annual fundraiser called "Duck Derby" where they sell rubber ducks and then put them in a pond at Las Vegas Town Square. Each duck you buy is registered to you, and at the end of the day they fish ducks out of the pond for prizes. We did not win any prizes, but as corny as it may sound, I just loved the chance to teach my kids about helping out for a good cause!
There were all different kinds of performances including some performed by children with disablilities. It was such a neat experience to see these children on a stage in front of hundreds of people showing off their talents. Our favorite was a little girl, about 13 years old, with cerebral palsy singing one of our favorite songs by Miley Cyrus- "The Climb" It was great.
There were also a lot of fun games for the kids to play.
My boys LOVED the SWAT truck that was there.
They even got to go inside the SWAT Truck!
Brooklynne and Grayson's favorite part was the old firetruck that brought along their two dalamations!
I think the dog liked me the best though! :) He had himself convinced that he was about the size of a small lap dog.
*Somewhere in there were our ten ducks! We may not have won, but that time together as a family doing something special was PRICELESS!
