This was a difficult day for our family. The holiday always brings so much joy and cheer, but it also brings us a bit of sorrow. Sadness that we won't have Mark's Dad here with us to celebrate. Sad that we will have to wait to see him again. We know, without a doubt, that we will see him again. It is the waiting that is hard.
We went to visit his grave site, and the kids all wrote a Christmas message for Grandpa Rich on their balloons. Then as we say goodbye, we let them fly up to heaven. The kids have done this everytime we have visited, and it is a great tradition that helps them feel closer to their Grandpa while waiting until we are together again.
We sure miss you Rich....

What a very tender post. Thank for sharing.
I am so sorry that you lost him so young. The pic of Mark breaks my heart and I am sure it makes the holidays hard but it is also a season of hope, a season to remember that Christ came and conquered death so that you will be reunited again. I am sure you miss him dearly though and I will keep you in my prayers.
