Dodged A Bullet

I dodged a bullet last week, and I bet-by my first picture-you can tell how!

Last week during naptime, Brooklnne came into my room holding a pair of scissors.  Now, I know it is just hair, but that first time something like this happens, you start to panic.  I hurried quickly to her room to look for evidence (since I could not see any hair missing), only to find this....

At first glance, I was terrified thinking that I had missed something while inspecting my daughter's hair.

Then I saw her victim....

She gave this poor Barbie the worst sideways-rat tailed-mullet I have EVER seen! (Sorry I had time to take pix but not to drees dear old Barbie girl)

Could you even start to imagine my little girl with THAT haircut?  I mean, don't get me wrong-short hair is cute, but that sideways rat tail?  No thanks!

I was very happy that Brooklynne did not take the scissors to her own hair,  but I hear that 3 is a pretty magical age for haircuts.  When addressing the issue with Brooklynne, I tried to remain calm, but I also gave her the 411 about the "rules" of haircuts (#1 We NEVER cut our own hair).

Now, because she was so interested in cutting hair (and had made a great choice by NOT cutting her own), I decided to let her finish trimming the leftover hair, but while sitting next to me as I supervised.  Tell me your honest opinions.  Do you think I have created a "hair cutting monster" by allowing this?  I told her tht if she ever wants to cut more hair, we can get more Barbies to be her customers.  Who am I to stifle her creative side, right or wrong?  Or WAY wrong?  :)

I really dodged this bullet....For now anyway....

OH MAN. Yes, you dodged a bullet big time. Of course you know all about our adventures in hair cutting. :D That's awesome that she only cut her barbies are, though I think that at some point she might want to cut her own hair so I'd still keep an eye on her. :)

That is hilarious!!! I once saw a guy with that same haircut!!! Hehe...I think that allowing her to cut barbies hair is a good idea... just keep an eye on her so she doesn't think, "Hey, I'm pretty good, I think I can do my own hair!"

That brings back so many memories. Jonathan was 3 when he cut Katelyns hair and I had to shave her head. I cried. It is very tramatic for a mom when their daughter gets a hair cute like that. Man you were lucky it was jusst the doll :)

I hope that after seeing Barbie's results, Brooklynne realized that she looks better with her long blonde hair. That is one hilarious haircut, as long as it stays on Barbie. I had a 3 year old girl once upon a time with a mullet. I know it is just hair but it made me cry.

HAHA! Thank is so funny Katie!! I totally think that you should let her cut hair. You should get her those big Barbie head's, the ones where you can style their hair.

Jesse and I were laughing when we were looking at the pictures. She is so funny. You get to experience things with her for the first time since she is your only girl! How fun! =) You never know Katie, she might grow up and want to style hair!

You really did dodge a bullet. I still remember when Candice cut her bangs off, when we were little. And I vaguely remember MK and Candice under a table cutting each other's hair, too.

I think that's great that she wants to cut and use scissors. But maybe you might want to get her some scissors that only cut paper. (Annabelle and Paul had scissors like that, and I once caught them under the table, Annabelle cutting Paul's hair, but luckily, they didn't work. =D )
